GIFT & Crohns SuperGala 2007
February 3, 2007
The Grocery Foundation and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation again partnered together on February 3rd at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and feted over 4200 industry members and patrons to all kinds of special events, a scrumptious meal of beef filet and salmon elegantly prepared and served by Chef Fernandez.
With the legendary Beach Boys headlining the show, surrounded by a Beach Party theme brilliantly executed with murals, surfboards, tiki bars and yes, even sand boxes. Guests enjoyed bidding on a record number of Silent Auction items; had their fortunes told and palms read by The Mystics, danced to Shear Energy before and after the main meal and one lucky winner, David Sinclair of Cimcoe Refrigeration, won the 2007 Mercedes Benz valued at over $77,000.
The Head Table was the who’s who of the industry. Attending at the head table for the first time were Mark Foote, President and Chief Merchandising Officer and Pietro Satriano, Executive Vice President Food, Loblaws Companies; Alain Brisbois, Executive Vice President, A&P Canada, Michael McCain, President and CEO, Maple Leaf Foods, and Randy Sabourin, National President, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of Canada.
It is expected that net proceeds for the two charities will again be very close to $3 million, easily making this fundraising event the largest of any fundraiser in Canada and one of the top fundraising events of its kind in North America.
Plans for the 2008th event are already underway. SuperGala XXVIV will again take place at the Convention Centre on Saturday, February 2, 2008
