Program Overview
To provide the neediest 500 elementary schools in Ontario with essential breakfast foods at a target price equal to 50% of the regular shelf price.
This pricing will be achieved through sponsor suppliers making their products available at their variable cost; waiving their normal markup and by participating stores also agreeing to waive their normal markup.
The estimated $1.2 million net generated by the “toonies” fundraising campaign will be used to bridge to the 50% target where necessary; to subsidize commodities such as milk and to subsidize those schools who need additional financial help.
Schools will be qualified by Breakfast for Learning, Canada’s leading agency in school nutrition.
